On October 6, 1881 Holliday was deputized and helping to disarm 5 outlaws which turned into the gunfight at the O.K. corral- the rest is history. This holster is made following descriptions of Holliday’s early gun leather after leaving his family’s plantation in Griffin, Georgia, about a half an hour from our home. The buckle was found on the Holliday land and was obtained from a local historian for us to make a mold and cast. Holster, gun belt and buckle ~ $349.95

EVERYONE’S FAVORITE WESTERN MOVIE HERO COLLECTION

This is the true story of the iconic half breed holster, worn in most all of his movies since Hondo Texas in 1953. This most famous western star was mentored by Harry Carry Sr. and taught how real cowboys acted, responded, dressed, and looked like. He was instrumental in convincing him to stop wearing the flashy buscadero rigs where the holster goes through a slit in the belt. Our favorite actor saw a real cowboy in Southern California and was very impressed with his single drop loop holster. He took one of his own and cut it up to look like the one he liked and cobbled it together. On a trip he was passing through El Paso, Texas and stopped at the S.D. Myers saddle co. He asked if they could take apart his holster, make a pattern, and reproduce it. They said it would take a long time because they were backed up. The movie star said that he needed it for a new Western he was filming in a couple of weeks called “Hondo Texas.” They could not help him. A Mexican was working for Myers at that time by the name of Billy Wooters. It was quitting time so he asked This customer if he would accompany him across the river to Juárez where he lived and they could get dinner and discuss it. Both men hit it off and our cowboy star stayed at Billy’s home overnight. Billy went to work the next day and Myers asked him if he was going to make the movie holster. Billy said he already did and our actor was off to Hollywood. To his chagrin no matter how many times he was asked, Billy Wooters never did give that pattern to Myers to make a copy.

NOTE: All rigs come standard with 18 bullet loops in  your caliber. Additional loops available for $ 2 per loop. These loops are attached by threading through slots in the belt instead of sewing. This stops the loops from tearing and keeps the lead bullet from marking up the suede like a pencil.

When the “real” Wyatt Earp was in Hollywood consulting on the gunfight at the OK coral, a young movie set assistant paid close attention to what he said. This young man was given a lot of advice by Wyatt on how the old west really was, what their guns and gun leather looked like, and how they acted, walked, and talked. That young man’s name was Marion, who later became the world’s most famous western actor.

This style was first used in “The Rio Bravos”, 1959 as a folded sand colored suede or rough side out money belt with a stiffener between the layers, sewn on the top, bottom and ends. Includes a lined 4 1/2″ or 5 1/2″ Old West Icon classic holster ~ $449.95.

DC ~ EL DORADOS

El Dorado Rig

(This is the correct holster throat pattern) In 2011 an auction of almost a thousand items from our favorite Old Western Movie Icon’s estate took place. This sale included a gun rig used in the movie “El Dorados, ” Lot #44010. This Holster and Gun Belt sold for $77,675. The correct holster has a single drop loop and non visible 1/2 back skirt. The gun belt is a  “One of a Kind,” unique smooth side out, non-suede style tapering down to a laced on 1 1/2″ tongue. The clipped corner rectangular nickel buckle is sewn on with gunfighter stitch. Our adaptation of the original with unlined holster ~ $399.95. The 1948 buckle and pant belt are an additional $149.95. For 1946 buckle and belt add $10. For lining  add $49.95 per piece.

 DC – GRIT AND ROOSTER

These two rigs were the last classic holsters and gun belts used in 1969 and 1975. The holsters were slightly different than  his others and one example is in the Autry museum in LA. Lined holster and folded suede gun belt ~ $449.95 (click on photos for larger view)

DC ~ THE COMMEMORATIVE EDITION- Holster, Gun Belt, & Pant Belt

One of the last of the Classic rigs to be made was the “Commemorative Edition.” This set differs in that the folded suede money belt has a rectangular, clipped corner nickel buckle instead of a square one. Many folks prefer this buckle because it is easier on the belt’s tongue.  The belt tongue has a spear point at both ends instead of a blunt point. The lined holster has slightly different lines than standard one and a narrower drop loop. The unlined pant belt has our greatest western hero’s signature “American made” solid brass, 1 1/2″ square Garrison buckle and five or seven tongue holes. The color of the smooth leather will be a lighter Saddle Tan than the other sets. The holster and both belts will be embossed with our logo and “Commemorative Edition.”  Includes our “Gold Seal” 8 1/2″ x 11″ Maker’s certificate  with your name listed with the serial number FREE. This set will be individually numbered and limited to only 250. The complete three piece set ~ $574.95. Add the carbine scabbard below for a total of $799.95 (save $25.00)

DC ~ CLASSIC CROSS DRAW

We have not seen a film with our western hero wearing a cross draw holster, but there has been so much demand that we created one. Unlined holster alone ~ $174.95. For lining add $49.95. This one is in Old Walnut color.

DSCH ~ DUKES SCHOFIELD HOLSTER

So many folks have asked for one of several Dukes rigs but made for a Schofield  5” or 7” barrel holster. We made this one for a seven inch in Walnut with a color contrast Saddle Tan gun belt. The tongue and buckle end as well as the belt loops are also in Walnut. Unlined holster and folded leather money belt ~ $324.95. For lining add $49.95. For floral carving add $49.95. Rig comes standard with 18 cartridge loops. Additional loops are $2 each.

DC ~ THE COMMEMORATIVE TRAPER SCABBARD (RS – 4)

In most of his films, your Western Hero carries a Winchester Model 1892 “Trapper ” carbine with a 16″ barrel and tear drop lever . This (9-10) gauge leather scabbard has two heavy duty nickel (D) rings, and includes a pair of saddle straps with nickel rectangular roller buckles. The rear will be embossed with our logo, “Commemorative Edition,” and is serial numbered. Limited production of 250. Includes our “Gold Seal” Maker’s Certificate with your name FREE ~ $249.95

DC ~ THE SHOOTISTS

SHOOTIST

In our favorite Old West Icon’s last western, he wore a non typical rig from his other movies. The holster is lined and has the trigger guard exposed. When disassembled, you will find that this is a two piece holster with the shaft secured to the skirt. Our version results in a firm holster that is lightning to draw from. The belt loop will fit over a 2″ belt unless specified. The unlined belt, like the movie, is 2″ wide and tapers down to 1 3/4″. It has an identical nickel, square cornered garrison buckle that is a replica of the correct North & Judd anchor style worn in the movie. This is a complex holster to make and takes more time than others to construct. This design has been researched  in great detail, using an identical holster and belt in our collection made during the same mid 1970’s time period as the one in the movie. During the research process we also discussed the design features and modifications with folks that have seen the original and concur. Quote: ” I won’t be wronged. I won’t be insulted. I won’t be laid a-hand on. I don’t do these things to other people, and I require the same from them.” Our adaptation of the unlined belt, buckle and lined holster  ~ $424.95. For lining  add $49.95 per piece.

DC ~ LOST LEGENDS

Another semi western movie was filmed in 1957 with some of the biggest stars of the era. The story involves chasing after a long lost treasure in the Sahara desert. In this film, the our favorite Western Icon’s rig consists of a period 2 1/4″ wide Sam Brown belt with a double tongue, solid brass, Sam Brown buckle. The belt has no bullet loops and the holster is reminiscent of his normal trademark leather except for the toe that is sewn closed and no drop loop. The gun used in the film is very unique and period correct in that it is a Husqvarna Model M/1887 in 7.5 MM caliber. We can fit both a Colt SAA and the Swedish 1887. We can also adjust to fit a Schofield, S&W or Colt double action. Belt and holster set with normal Sam Brown buckle ~ $349.95. For an original 1800’s buckle, grab a piece of history for $24.95 more.  For a lined holster add $49.95. Photo shows the original 1887 used in the movie (Chisholm’s Trail Collection)

DC ~ ANGELS AND BADMEN

We have meticulously studied our favorite Old West Icon’s 1940’s movies where he finally quit wearing “non-authentic” Buscadero rigs. Our movie production sources indicate that the holster he wore was an original  custom Heiser # 714, with a fully tooled belt to match. Our standard version includes an unlined holster, with a lower ride, and unlined belt with a cast white bronze buckle and tip~ $449.95. To add our special hand engraved, Sterling Silver overlay buckle and belt tip add ~ $179.95. For lining add $49.95 per piece. This is the finest reproduction made, with careful attention to the floral tooling pattern from an original in our collection. The buckle and belt tip cast for this set comes from a copy of the Stembridge western movie collection. The better Sterling buckle and tip are heavy silver plated with superior quality. This buckle set is available individually for other belts- see our buckle button. Quirt’s longhorn steer head pant belt buckle available on our buckle button(See below)

ANGEL & BADMAN  ANGEL & BADMAN

This buckle and tip can be cast in solid Sterling Silver ~ $249.95

BJ- 6 D ~ ANGELS & BADMEN DELUXE BUCKLE SET

DC ~ ANGELS AND BADMEN KNIFE & SHEATH

SS – 1 ~ ANGELS & BADMEN SPUR STRAPS

Generously large spur straps with rectangular nickel plated buckles. Note the floral carving transferred from the actual movie gun leather tooling pattern in 1947. Heavy duty 9-10 gauge tooling leather, oil base stain color, and hand rubbed saddle finish. As shown ~ $149.95. You gotta have a set of these.

BJ – 6 E ~ ANGELS & BADMEN- MOVIE ICON LONGHORN STEER HEAD BUCKLE & PANT BELT

Look closely at the pant belt buckle Quirt is wearing in the 1947 Angels & Badmen you will see it is a rectangular, hand engraved buckle with a raised longhorn steer head. This buckle was meticulously reproduced by a renowned western gun engraver specially for Chisholm’s Trail. It will fit up to a 1 1/2″ belt. Cast in the American Southwest from white bronze (looks like sterling) ~ $59.95. Available in Solid Sterling Silver ~ $249.95. Unlined belt with edge groove and white bronze buckle ~ $159.95. With full floral carving add ~ $49.95. Click on photo for better view. This is a great pant belt and buckle for every day use or dress up.

DC ~ RED RIVERS TEXAS DUNSON RIG

This epic 1946 movie, released in 1948, was about our ancestor Jesse Chisholm. On the cattle drive our favorite Western Movie Icon wears a unique belt with a billeted, sewn on oval buckle end and tapered tongue end. “That brand will be on enough beef to feed everyone. Great beef for hungry folks to make them strong.”

This rig was most likely made by Cap Hardy, an exhibition shooter in the early 20th century and a pall bearer for Buffalo Bill Cody. He was a harness maker who moved to Beverly Hills as an early Hollywood gun leather maker. He also taught many of the early actors how to shoot, working with Tom Mix, Clark Gable, and William S. Hart.

This rig has no tooling or decorative stamping. For the set of unlined holster with drop loop and unlined belt with correct silver color, 1 1/2″ oval buckle ~ $399.95. For lining add $49.95 per piece. For one line of edge stamping add $10 per piece. For basket weave or floral carving add $49.95 per piece. For antiquing and distressing add $49.95 per piece. Specify 5 1/2″ or 4 1/2″ barrel. Trust me, this is one cool rig.

BJ – 5A ~ DUNSON RED RIVERS GUN BELT BUCKLE

Specially made for a thick, lined, leather tongue to fit well and lay flat. Identical to the one worn by our favorite western movie icon on his “one of a kind” Red Rivers gun belt with a special billeted (sewn on) buckle end and a tapered tongue end. Highly polished and will not tarnish ~ $ 49.95 When ordered with one of our belts, the buckle price reduced to $39.95. (Fits up to 1 1/2″ very thick belt tongue) If you have been looking for a really tough buckle, then this is it.

DC ~ RED RIVER DUNSON TEXAS PANT BELT

In most of his westerns, this icon wore a 1 1/2″ or 1 3/4″ pant belt with a square Garrison buckle. With edge groove ~ $149.95

DC ~ RED RIVER TEXAS BUSTER’S RIG

Noah Beery Jr. played the role of “Buster” a top cowboy on the Red Rivers Texas cattle drive. Who can forget his stirring  “YE HA,” starting the Longhorns North. This is a very authentic rig that has drawn our attention for many years. It was an original cowboy holster owned by Beery and used by him in several westerns. He wears it as a cattle drover in the 1956 movie “Jubal,” with Glenn Ford, and “Decision at Sundown,” with Randolph Scott. Noah’s first wife, Maxine Jones, was the child of early Western star, Buck Jones. The “Buster” holster has all the typical ‘Buck Jones’ holsters/rigs characteristics, such as scoop throat, lots of studs, conchos and ‘silver’ work. It is current thought that the holster was a gift from Buck to his son in law. A large domed concho is between the holster top and the first drop loop. The gun belt is an unlined 2 1/2″ wide style with sewn and riveted billets and a clipped corner buckle. The color is Walnut. Our version, lined holster and un-lined gun ~ $449.95. For a lined gun belt or a folded money belt add ~  $49.95

DC ~ RED RIVERS TEXAS MATT ~ THE “FAST GUN” RIG

This rig is NOT a true buscadero, but the holster and belt are one continuous piece. The outside of the belt is the inside of the holster and the inside of the belt is the outside of the holster…It is complex to make and uses a lot of leather. you can see this same style being worn by Nick in the “Big Valleys.” Note the very long sewn on tongue and the 1 1/2″ oval buckle. Will fit up to a 5 1/2″ Colt SAA. The color is Cowboy Brown. As shown ~ $649.95. This is the most difficult rig to make of all…

DC ~ RED RIVERS MATT ‘S HATBAND

In Red River Texas, riding with the world’s favorite Western movie Icon, Matt wears this classic, western style, beige cowboy hat. The band is made from nice thick 7-8 gauge vegetable tanned, tooling leather, 5/8″ wide, with large one half inch “Parachute” studs spaced 1/4″ apart. The hatband edges are rounded, browned, and burnished. The color is Chocolate with hand rubbed saddle finish. Hatband with laced connection ~ $124.95. With buckle strap ~ $134.95

DC ~ RED RIVERS VALANCE GUNFIGHTER RIG

Fully floral tooled Buscadero belt, tongue and buckle ends. Sewn on 1 1/2″ tongue and buckle ends and a square clipped corner nickel buckle. Full bullet loops from one end to the other. Large domed genuine antique Mexican eagle coins made into conchs are spaced out below the bullet loops. Holster will fit up to a 5 1/2″ Colt SAA and has sliver colored studs along the top, two “Blood Knot” conchos and a buckle strap. The color is chocolate. Lined holster and unlined gun belt ~ $574.95. For lined gun belt add $49.95. Note: this rig is worth every penny with all of the extensive tooling and hardware.

An alternative choice would be a drop loop, another antique Mexican coin concho and two domed, silver spots like on the throat of the holster. One cowboy wanted to add a cross draw holster without a skirt. If you want one, just call ~ P.O. R.

DC ~ THE GODFATHERS ROUGH OUT HOLSTER & GUN BELT RIG

(Click on  photo for a larger view) Just when you think you have seen everything, something new pops up. The world’s favorite Western movie icon wore this rig in 1948, just two years after the Red Rivers Texas movie. We were so used to watching his films that we just assumed he wore the same half breed rig with the suede belt and leather holster. But “au contraire” this is not so. After studying this gun rig, we noticed that the gun belt and holster were totally different than any rig he had worn before or after. The gun belt was more narrow, around 21/4″ wide, with 3/4″ bullet loops. The 1″  sewn on tongue and buckle ends and are triple scalloped and extend almost to the bullet loops. The belt is rough out, with the tongue,  buckle end and bullet loops in medium brown. The holster is similar to the Red Rivers Texas holster but without a skirt or drop loop. Our version, like the original, with lined holster & gun belt  ~ $474.95. Standard with 18 bullet loops. Add $2 per loop for more. To add the unique “tab” hammer thong, like the original, sewn on outside of the holster at the rear sight location add ~ $20. This is the first time this one has ever been made. You could own a replica of this rig that has not been recreated for over 73 years. Special oval engraved, gold inlaid, 1″ buckle can be purchased separately ~ $39.95

HH ~ JOSEY WALES SHOULDER HOLSTER

This shoulder holster was made for a Colt / replica 1849 Pocket Pistol. It is unique in that there is one strap from the top of the shoulder holster on the left, going over the left shoulder and looping over your pant belt above the right pocket. The back of the holster has two holes for a thong that can tie to your belt on the left side. This has been a challenge to find a correct pattern and we looked for years to get this rig pattern since it is never seen from the back side during the movie. Original shoulder holster was by Andy Anderson. Rig as shown (not including Colt) ~$224.95.  (this is the only correct replica movie rig available.)

Vin’s rig was made by Andy Anderson who also made Blondie’s rig in “The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.” The holster is toe forward carried on a straight belt with gunfighter stitching and no notch to hold the holster in place, or bullet loops. The buckle is a (D) shaped heel bar buckle. A friend in Hollywood, whose grandfather made saddles for the movies, was gracious enough to share the original holster pattern with us. Note: if you choose light thread with a black or brown holster and gun belt you can expect some color transfer onto the thread. This cannot be avoided and is the only way to make this rig. Holster, belt with no bullet loops, and buckle ~ $524.95.

HHM7CL – MAG 7 CHRIS ~ “These walls weren’t meant to keep you out- but to keep you in!”

CHRIS

(Click on this  photo for larger view) This is Chisholm’s Trail’s first Buscadero holster. We normally make authentic cowboy gun leather. However, as a tribute to Yul Brynner and the greatest western of all time we decided to make it. According to a several Hollywood holster makers for the movies, personal notes and drawings this rig was assembled by Rodd Redwing, famous native American actor, stunt man, & fast draw coach. This rig is made for 5 1/2″ barrel Colts and clones, It will also fit 4 3/4″ . We have spent a tremendous amount of time recreating & casting the unique large rectangular buckle that is flat on the top and the bottom. Our version of this 3″ wide rig, adapted from the original look – fully lined, floral tooled gun belt, lined and non-tooled holster, and buckle with 18 bullet loops. Additional loops $2 ea. ~ $649.95. If you want this rig, please call and get on the list- first come, first done.  Separate pant belt and turquoise inlaid sterling silver buckle ~ POR. A very special thanks to Bob Arganbright for input on the pattern and floral tooling layout.

HHM7CAL – CALVERA THE MEXICAN BANDITO, “New walls. They won’t keep me out!” “If God didn’t want them sheared, he would not have made them sheep.”

CALVERA

CALVERA CONCHO

Calvera’s rig is a “Buscadero” style with a huge sterling silver ornate concho on the tongue end. This concho was created from enhanced photo shots  & cast in the USA. The holster will fit a 4 3/4″ or 5 1/2″ Colt SAA  and has a sterling silver drop loop with several inlaid pieces of turquoise. Standard with 18  bullet loops. Additional loops ~ $2  ea. Our version ~ $799.95.  Note: Calvera used a curved, stag  handled “Bisley”, llike the one Pancho Villa carried. You can get these genuine stag grips only from Pat Grasshorn at  http://grashornsgunworks.com/ or (307) 256-3495. This rig with a nickel concho & leather drop loop ~ $499.95

TOE FORWARD FAST DRAW RIGS

HH- Van Cleef

Lee Van Cleef

VAN CLEEF Crossdraw

VAN CLEEF

This style is adapted from the original toe forward holster as it appeared in the movie. Once again we are fortunate to have obtained the original pattern for this holster in 5 1/2″ just like Van Cleef used. Like the original the holster sits in a notch on the belt and locks in to the holster with a tab at the bottom. If you will be moving the holster ar und we can make the belt without a notch. Fully lined with 18 cartridge loops.  Additional loops ~ $2 each ~ $499.95.

Note: if you choose light thread with a black or brown holster and gun belt you can expect some color transfer onto the thread. This cannot be avoided and is the only way to make this rig. Leaving the threads light color adds $10 per piece. Van Cleef never takes his coat off and no gunfighter stitch is showing so we make our version this way. Gunfighter stitch can be applied for an additional $49.95 charge. The correct six gun from the movie is the replica Remington 1858 Army in the engraved model called “Old Silver.” However, we can make it to fit your favorite SAA.

HH ~ ONCE UPON A TIME BUSCADERO – Used by Harmonica Man Bronson & Fonda in “Name is Nobody.”

Harmonica Man

NOBODY

As the movie, this rig uses a sewn on tongue and buckle end billeted Ranger belt. There is a (V-2) angled slit in the belt that the holster goes through making this set into a toe forward fast draw rig. The movie holster was in 7 1/2″ but we can adjust the barrel length to what you need. The same style was used in “Upon a Time in the West,” and by Fonda in the “Nobody” movie as well as Palance as Jack Wilson in Shane. ~ $499.95 lined with cartridge loops as in the movie and square nickel buckle.. Note: if you choose light thread with a black or brown holster and gun belt you can expect some color transfer onto the thread. This cannot be avoided and is the only way to make this rig.

THE MARSHAL OF YUMA Hi Ride (*Chisholm’s Trail recommended)

This SAA “Slim Jim” was a  Chick Gaylord design. He was an innovative hand gun holster designer in the 50’s & 60’s.  On this holster he lengthened the Belt loop so it was sewn the total length of the holster providing tremendous stability and firmness.

Clint Walker made this film in 1971. It was a good western with a twist at the end you do not expect. During much of this film he wore a slight right cross draw holster that rode high on his pant belt. He could conceal it very well under his suit jacket. The trigger guard was outside the holster body for quick access.  The pant belt had six bullet loops on the right side. Holster and pant belt with special buckle $324.95. Holster ~ $149.95 (specify if you want the barrel poking out the bottom of the holster or not. (click on photos for larger view) Trust me this is a great concealed carry holster.

In 1966 Max Sand became a man on the vengeance trail after the men that killed his parents. He used the alias Nevada Smith to hide his true name. Andy Anderson produced some really nice gun leather for this movie. We especially like his 5 1/2″ closed toe holster the fits either the “S&W Schofield or the Colt Single Action” at the same time. The holster rode on a tapered cartridge belt with twelve loops centered on the back side and was fastened with a nickel plated heel bar buckle. HC1962 ~ HIGH COUNTRY

(Pattern Pending)

HIGH COUNTRY

(Original Photo) Randolph Scott’s filmography runs from 1928 to 1962 with over a hundred films, many classic westerns. His last film was “Ride the High Country,” with his friend Joel McCrae. This gritty western was directed by Sam Peckinpah and saw many new stars and unique guns such as the Remington semi automatic rifle. This rig was one of several he wore in the 1948 western “Coroner Creek.” He said it was his favorites and was reported to have been sold at auction. As a tribute to Scott we reproduced it with the title “High Country.” The holster is a lean “Oklahoma” Slim Jim with a visible skirt. The belt is a folded money belt style with “snake head” sewn on billets. As shown ~ $399.95. For antiquing and distressing add $40 per piece.

STEWART COLLECTION

A “tip of the hat” and thanks for the use of the copy of Stewart’s sweat stained Stetson that he wore in all his western movies in photos for this article in Guns of the Old West magazine. Hat courtesy Golden Gate Western Wear, and Bill Knudsen for loaning this hat for the article. Find them at https://www.goldengatewesternwear.com/ to get your own replica.

WIN73 ~ 1873 GUN LEATHER

From 1935 to 1991 Stewart made a total of 98 films that you could get immersed in. His characters were flawed like real folks and he always was the good guy looking out for others. The “Duke” convinced him to come out of retirement to star with him in the 1976 “Shootist,” however, we feel his best western was “1873 Winchester .” In it, as well as most of his cowboy roles, he wore a wide gun belt with a single wide drop loop holster. We are recreating this set as a tribute to his contribution to our western movie history. As shown ~ $399.95. For antiquing and distressing add $49.95 per piece. For lining add $49.95 per piece. Original color was saddle tan.

JFC ~ FAR COUNTRIES

One of Stewart’s finest westerns took place in the Yukon and Canada. After his partner “Brennan” was savagely killed and he was wounded, Stewart rode into town with his saddle bell ringing. One of the better western gunfights took place and he ended up with the girl. In this Northwestern saga Stewart wore his trademark wide billeted gun belt and a single buckled drop loop holster with exposed trigger guard. Our version of this iconic rig ~ $399.95. For antiquing and distressing add $49.95 per piece. For lining add $49.95 per piece. Original color cowboy brown. For as long as the supply lasts, a free small brass bell like in the movie is included similar to the one he had attached to his saddle horn.

BOTR ~ RIVERS BEND

Filmed in 1952 this nice rig sported a rare, slow scalloped “Jock Strap,” drop loop holster, with a wide mouth for the trigger guard. Two versions were used, one with laced edge and one with sewn edge -our version ~ $399.95. For antiquing and distressing add $49.95 per piece. For lining add $49.95 per piece.

JSNP ~ PASSAGE IN THE NIGHT

This 1957 film has Stewart wearing a holster with an exposed trigger guard and a single, oval cart buckle on a drop loop strap. The gun belt has billeted, sewn on tongue and buckle ends. Our version ~ $399.95. For antiquing and distressing add $49.95 per piece. For lining add $49.95 per piece.

TRT ~ THEY RODE TOGETHER

Stewart and Widmark must have been great friends and it showed when they continued to banter back and forth throughout the film. This 1961movie pitted them together as a cavalry officer and a scout trying to find children captured by the Indians. This is one of the few Buscadero rigs worn by Stewart. It has nifty “Snake Head” designed sewn on tongue and buckle ends with a nickel square belt buckle. The belt has a large decorative leaf and vine tooling pattern and the holster has a rail road track roll tooled along the stitch line and on the front. Holster and belt are lined. Our version ~ $449.95. Original color was chocolate.

BA ~ BROKEN ARROWS

In 1950 he made an intense western where he marries an Apache maiden. She is killed and an Indian war is about to explode on the Western frontier. Stewart wears a 2” straight gun belt with multiple loops and a square silver colored buckle. His holster is a 5 ½” Southwestern Slim Jim, and he carries a 7 ½” Colt SAA with two inches sticking out of the bottom of the leather. This was more common than thought since a holster just needed to carry the gun in those days. Unlined with edge groove ~ $324.95

OTHER GREAT WESTERNS

 BOM48~ BLOOD ON THE MOON

BLOOD ON THE MOON

From 1942 to 1997, Mitchum played in 110 movies, many were westerns with all of the big cowboy stars. Our favorite is “Blood on the Moon” in 1948, with Robert Preston and Barbara Bell Geddes. His acting was superb and he was a believable reluctant hero. Our tribute is this drop loop rig with basket weave and tooling ~ $399.95. For antiquing and distressing add $40 per piece.

RTSTWM ~ SADDLING THE WIND

SADDLE THE WIND

In 1958 Robert Taylor made an involved western with Julie London as his co-star. Few folks know that the screen play was written by Rod Serling of “Twilight Zone” fame. Tayor had a custom rig made for this film which he also wore in “The Last Hunt.” The holster has a skirt and double buckle drop loops. The belt has a tapered tongue and the buckle end is billeted with a sewn on buckle. Both the holster and the gun belt are fully floral tooled. The trigger guard is exposed and the holster fill fit a 4 3/4″ or 5 1/2″ Colt SAA. With tooling ~ $499.95

JPTLM ~ LONELY MEN

MISSOURI SKIN TIGHT

(Original Photo) In 1957 Palance played the Lonely Man. He was an aging gunslinger wanting to settle down with his long separated son. However, his old enemies would not let this happen and had other plans for him. In this film, the famous gun leather maker Chick Gaylord, who worked with the mysterious Paris Theodore made him a “Missouri Skin Tight” holster. The gun belt is 2″ wide with a square, nickle, single tongue  buckle. The addition of  studs along the top and bottom of the belt and nickel belt tip make this a fast draw looking “gunfighter” rig. Note the leg tie to keep this holster secure and ready for a lightning action. Our version is reproduced as close as possible to the one worn in the movie. $399.95

 WSHHH ~ “HELL’S HINGES”

(Pattern Pending)

(Original Photo) William S. Hart made westerns from 1907 to 1925. The clothes and gun leather in his films were originals. Hart continuously fought with the studios to try and wear correct cowboy era gun leather and clothing.  He knew many famous Lawmen and was a pall bearer at Wyatt Earp’s funeral. ” The Two Gun Man,” was a particularly good western. Hart wore a thin gun belt and a close fitting double drop loop holster. Our version – $349.95

EWR ~ EARLY WILL ROGERS

(Pattern Pending)

Starred in “Two Wagons” early silent films then later more westerns with the talkies. Most of the cowboy gun leather used in the silent films were originals actually used in the old west. As shown ~ $374.95

WWMIB~ WESTERN WORLD LeMat GUN LEATHER

Most folks think the nine shot LeMat pistol with a center 20 gauge barrel is French. They are wrong, It was designed and made in New Orleans. However, some were licensed and manufactured in France, but most were constructed in the USA for the Confederacy during the Civil War. The man with the black suit and clothes must have had experience with this pistol because of its rarity. As the original with .38 bullet loops unless other caliber requested. Three 20 GA. loops centered or if requested off set to the left. Cross draw LeMat holster, gun belt, & special heavy weight nickel buckle~ $374.95

At one point there was or will be a consideration to include a single or double cylinder pouch on the  belt like the one in “Pale Rider.” Customer must provide spare cylinder to complete project. For this option add ~ $49.95 for single pouch, and $69.95 for double pouch.

PLANTATION PROVOST PATROLLER ~ UNDERGROUND RAILROAD

AS ISSUED

In the 1850’s Southern plantations would have self-elected, quasi law enforcement employees that would search for Plantation folks trying to reach the UNDERGROUND RAILROAD.  Most TV and movie characters involving the Underground Railroad would wear gear like this. The common gun leather would mostly include a 1 ¾” straight belt without decoration and a Southern Slim Jim style, straight shaft holster of various lengths. If the revolver had a longer barrel than the holster, it would just stick out the bottom. With a very minimum front sight there was no worry that it would catch on the bottom. As shown ~ $334.95   With edge decoration add $10 per piece. With basket weave or hand carved flowers and vines add $49.95 per piece. For distressing and antiquing add $49.95 per piece. As shown with a Colt 1851 Navy ~ specify revolver you are using and holster length wanted.

ASD ~ A SECOND TO DIE

A SECOND TO DIE

A SECOND TO DIE

un In 1968 one of the very best spaghetti westerns ever made came out with Clay McCord in the main role as an outlaw trying to get amnesty in old New Mexico. Some of the finest cowboy shoot outs ever staged take place in this film. The gun belt was too large for him so it was cut down on site. The holster has the highest rake toe forward made by Andy Anderson. Worn very high on the belt, It also has a skirt and buckle strap, . Gunfighter stitching covers the gun belt below the bullet loops. There are several bullet loops on both the tongue and buckle ends. Clay uses two gorgeous Colts in this movie. One with diamond pattern checkered walnut grips and the other with genuine mother of pearl. If you want the ultimate fast draw rig, this one is for you. Note: if you choose light thread with a black or brown holster and gun belt you can expect some color transfer onto the thread. This cannot be avoided and is the only way to make this rig. Fully lined holster and gun belt ~ $499.95. NOTE: Because of the bullet loops the gunfighter half stitch on belt must be hand applied and will be an additional $24.95. (We met Alex Cord at the Memphis Cowboy film festival and discussed the movie and his gun leather in depth) (During the construction of this rig,Thell Reed contacted us and told us that Alex Cord borrowed two of Thell’s Colts for the movie. Thell Reed is a famous movie Armorer and fast draw artist. We have made several holster for movies he has worked on.) Matching Garrison pant belt ~ $124.95.

Jack’s rig was the pinnacle of Anderson’s quick draw designs. He was paired with two other gun fighters, including Woody Strode. Harmonica Man Bronson killed them all with three shots sounding like one. DEE WOOLEM FAST DRAW

DEE WOOLEM FAST DRAW

(Photo of original) The first National Fast Draw champion in 1955 and through 1957 was Dee Woolem. He put on fast draw shows at Knott’s Berry farm and taught many western actors how to handle a gun. Dee helped organize the sport of Fast Draw. The early holsters he designed were some of the fastest to draw from ever created and many are still in use today. We have been fortunate enough to obtain a very early copy of this pattern and are now able to offer it to you. This holster can be made with normal firmness or with a stiffener between the layers for an even more firm shaft at an additional cost. lined holster and unlined gun belt with full floral tooling ~ $499.95. VJD ~ VIRGINIA

Our adaptation of the toe forward, lined, rough out leather rig worn for so many years on TV. Few fans know that his Colt SAA had the grip frame replaced with a (D) guard Dragoon brass frame giving him  a better hand hold. Look closely at one of the TV series segments and you will see this unique addition. We were fortunate to meet James Drury at the Memphis Western Film Festival and he looks GREAT. Our cowboy hero of the evening TV series still has the piercing eyes and solid hand shake. Rough out, lined toe forward holster with six bullet loops on the buckle end, and lined tapered gun belt with “Gunfighter” stitch and heel bar buckle ~ $499.95

 THE BUSCADERO COLLECTION: Hollywood Holsters

NOTE: FOR ALL BUSCADERO RIGS. PLEASE MEASURE FROM THE FRONT OF YOUR ZIPPER TO THE PANT SEAM JUST BELOW YOUR POCKET SLIT. THAT WILL ALLOW THE HOLSTER TO BE POSITIONED CORRECTLY  ON YOUR SIDE.

THE BUSCADERO STORY:  There is no example of any holster going through a slit in the belt that was used by any cowboy in the old west. We have personally been in almost every cowboy museum and never found one.  Here is the TRUE story of how this style came about.

In the 1930’s a famous Texas Ranger, Capt. John Hughes, had been shot in his right “Gun” hand and could not draw as usual. He went to a leather maker by the name of Myers to solve the problem. Myers said the only way to get your hand closer to the gun is to cut a slit in the belt and lower the holster. That became the new Ranger “Fast Draw.” The famous San Francisco writer, Eugene Cunningham wrote about this in a national magazine and named it the “Buscadero.” He said that is a Spanish word, which means “One who is hunted.” Hollywood saw this and immediately began using the distinctive style in all western movies. “Now you know the rest of the story.” All of our versions come standard with 18 bullet loops unless more are ordered. For full loops add $25. Sewn loops can rip loose so we punch slots and weave the loop in and out of the same slot. This method can not rip loose and it keeps the cartridge from scratching the gun belt each time it is inserted or taken out.

THE MAN IN BLACK ~  A knight without armor in a savage land

This is our first buscadero rig. You will remember what it said on his business card “Have gun, will travel,” San Francisco. This rig is fully lined with up to 24 cartridge loops. Additional loops are $2 per loop. The holster has a removable hammer thong and a leg tie. The original right hand set was black and made for a totally blue/black Colt SAA with 7 1/2″ barrel and black grips. The caliber was .45 LC and the buckle was a nickel clipped corner style. Our version includes the unique sterling silver chess knight applied to the front of the holster. He was once asked what the horse represented. He replied that it was a chess piece, and the most versatile. It can move in eight different directions, over obstacles, and it’s always unexpected. Spoiler: Most people do not know that The man In Black’s  real name before wore the black was “Clay Alexander.” Our version ~ $594.95. Standard with 24 bullet loops. Additional loops add $2 per loop.

MAN IN BLACK ~ CHESS KNIGHT ALONE:  CH – (13) in Right hand, or CH – (13 A) in Left hand

DODGE CITY MARSHAL

The Marshal, for 20 years, wore a lined right hand, Colt 7 ½” barrel, dark brown, “Buscadero” holster. This was not the typical rig of the era. Comes standard with 24 bullet loops. Additional loops available at $2 per loop. LM ~ LAWMEN OF WYOMING

This authentic western series ran from 1958 to 1962. The Marshal’s Buscadero rig had a holster that hung much lower than the contemporary rigs of the era. His toe forward Buscadero rig was an attempt by the leading holster maker of the era to regain the competition fast draw market after two of his prodigies had gone on to open their own businesses taking away much of his prominence. This 2 1/2″ wide (V) gun belt has a toe forward holster with a buckle strap drop loop and a narrow skirt. It is fully lined with 18 bullet loops standard. Additional loops add $2 per loop.. ~ $549.95 This style is a true Hollywood rig.

SKCC ~ SILVERADO COLORADO JAKE

This custom, 1985 double holster, buscadero rig is rare in that it has a tapered 1 3/4″ tongue and buckle end. This set is full hand floral carved, even on the inside of the holster tops up to the belt. Our fully lined rig has max bullet loops and a special oval buckle with a cast floral relief made by Chisholm’s Trail. As shown ~ $799.95

TBV ~ THE BIGGEST VALLEY

Now here is a really different gun rig. Although not a true Buscadero it does hang low. The holster is actually part of the belt and the skirt is a second layer for the holster as well as the belt. Click on the photo and you can see the separate pieces on the skirt, A very difficult rig to build and very special one to own. One piece rig ~ $599.95

TLRT ~ TONTOS

(Pattern Pending)

(Original photos) This Mohawk, portrayed a Potawatomi Indian. The Potawatomi words “Ke-mo sah-bee,” means “he looks out in secret”, “trusty scout” or “faithful friend”. He rode with the masked man from 1949-57. Tontos brown Buscadero rig is uncommon. It buckled on the left hip and had a tapered tongue end with seven holes. Tonto can be best seen wearing this rig from all angles in the 1958 “Lost City of Gold,” an excellent color movie. Our version of this unlined rig ~ $449.95. Standard with 18 bullet loops. Additional loops add $1 per loop.

TLR ~ LONE TEXAS RANGER

(Pattern Pending) Original style conchos are no longer being made

This was a difficult pattern to obtain and is faithful to the original. A photo will be posted when the first one is made. Current price ~ $975. If any one out there has an idea where to get the exact style of conchos like on this gun belt, please contact us. Thank  you in advance for your assistance. 1 1/2″ buckle set used on our version of this rig

Lone Ranger Set

Lone Ranger Holster

EL CHARRO

This 1969 Western saw Presley as an outlaw gunfighter wanting to get out and settle down. This rig is actually one of the last ones made by Rodd Redwing the famous Native American actor, stunt man and fast draw holster maker. He collaborated with Andy Anderson in making this rig. The pattern for this set comes directly from the rig used in the film. The lined gun belt is 3” wide with large Snake head billets that have decorative (X) lacing on them. The holster is 5 ½” and will also fit a 4 3/4” SAA. Color is black or dark walnut, with rough side out leather. The bullet loops, tongue, buckle end are smooth leather, contrasting against the rough out gun belt.  Comes standard with 18 bullet loops centered in the back and two bullet loops on the right side just before the holster~ $499.95. Additional loops are $2 per loop. This is not an easy rig to make. The holster has the front layer folding over the back prior to sewing. The trigger guard area is sewn down so the gun in that area sits outside the holster for faster draw. The original is on display in the Graceland museum in Memphis, TN.

DELUXE EL CHARRO BUCKLE

The Charro buckle looks like a Chap buckle which has a very tight 1 1/2” space. Our possible North & Judd buckle has a drop back bale (the metal tongue pivots on). Note the wider space. This allows the leather tongue to lay much flatter and is easier on the bending of the leather. We recommend this buckle made from solid white bronze marked “Chisholm’s Trail” for and additional $49.95

EARLY RAWHIDE BUSCADERO

Rawhide was a 1959 to 1965 TV Western starring Eastwood. In the years this series ran there were three distinctly different gun rigs worn. The first was a rough out 3” wide Buscadero by Andy Anderson with scalloped tongue and buckle ends. When the Cuban crisis occurred Anderson expected leather shortages and reduced his rigs to 2 ½”. The second rig worn was also a rough out Buscadero in the Ojala style with sewn on blunt end billets and was 2 ½” wide. The third was the well-known Eastwood gunfighter rig with the fancy stitching along the belt and under the belt loops. You can order any one of the three with lined holster and belt and 18 bullet loops ~ $549.95. For additonal bullet loops add $2 per loop. For floral carving or basket weave add $49.95.

WILD BILL ELLIOTT (1927-1950’s)

(Pattern Pending)

ARCHAEOLOGY HERO (ArcHERO) EXPEDITION COLLECTION

NEW WOMEN’S RAIDER BELT AND BUCKLE: Sure & Steadfast marked on the anchor

Women indeed have their place in the adventure and mercenary genre. In the last Raider film the heroine wears a 1 1/2″ wide, military belt with a two piece “Boys Brigade” buckle. This is a genius idea since this British “boy scouting” type of group had a girls segment and they learned outdoor skills, gymnastics, camping, archery, target practice, fencing, and how to use an axe and knife. The often wore khaki pants the same as the heroine in the movie does. Our buckle is cast from a British original ~ $49.95. Buckle with correct belt including the second belt adjuster buckle visible in the photo above ~ $149.95. “Hey – guys can wear this belt and buckle also…”

ArcHERO™ EXPEDITION GEAR (We welcome all inquiries about this gear and how we can improve it)

Do not confuse Chisholm’s Trail gear with thin off brand prop or costume stuff. Our ArcHero™ set is “ready for your adventure” – anywhere in the world under any weather conditions. Sewn with heavy 346 nylon thread, our gear is tough and will not let you down. After the holster is “wet formed” to the gun, our vegetable tanned leather has a double immersion of “oil base” color stain, and is completed with hand rubbed saddle finish inside and out. From a real archaeologist to a re-enactor this gear is for you. For antiquing add $20 (wrinkling and variegated color). For distressing add $20 (abrasion after antiquing). Our patterns are created using enhanced original photos with C.S.I. detail technology. We also own several WW1 holsters and have reverse engineered them. Our Hero’s passion for British gun leather and guns probably are the result in his time overseas where remnants of British military surplus and 455 ammo was available, and economical, in most countries after WW1. Research reveals that officers were required to provide their own gun leather based on specific patterns so a tremendous variety of colors and slight variations occur in originals. Special thanks for critical input, design features, and color descriptions from Todd of Todd’s Costumes, and Indy Magnoli for assistance and advice.

THE REAL INDY ~ ROY CHAPMAN ANDREWS (This Archaeology Hero is the real deal)

THE REAL INDY

THE REAL INDY

Roy (Indy) was a naturalist, intrepid explorer, bone digger, hunter, writer, self- promoter, and sometime director of the American Museum of Natural History, he was the closest thing to Indy in the real world. He may have rubbed modest scientists the wrong way, but he had a genius for finding remarkable things even while looking for others. His most famous expedition discovered dinosaur eggs in a nest while looking for ancient “Peking Man” human ancestors. He commonly wore a spear point 2″ gun belt tapered down to 1 3/4″ for a Garrison buckle. The belt had a cartridge slide holding six 45 auto rim or 45 LC cartridges. His holster was a WW1 military style with the flap removed and would hold a Colt SAA or a S&W model 1917. At times he would carry a Webley flap holster that would also accommodate the S&W.He also carried an old style U.S. marked utility pouch. The complete set with open top or flap holster ~ $399.95

ArcHERO™ MILITARY PANT BELT, BUCKLE, & TIP

EXPEDITION BUCKLE

EXPEDITION BUCKLE

A close examination of the the original ArcHERO™ buckle revealed it was a U.S. military dress buckle. On the back side it said “MADE IN USA,” not made in China. We obtain ours from a certified military contract vendor so you can be assured that what you buy from us is correct. The webbing in our belts is the same hefty weave as in the original military version.  Beware of thin foreign web belts. We arranged to get extra large 54″ long. You can measure your waist size by placing a tape measure inside your belt loops and snug it up. Do not trust pant or belt size. Then decide how many inches you want beyond that to hang out, take off the buckle and cut off what you don’t want at the buckle end to fit. Dress belt with solid brass buckle, brass tip, and web belt in khaki or brown ~ $24.95. For a second interchangeable belt without buckle of another color add ~ $15. ArcHERO™ RAIDER SATCHEL SHOULDER STRAP

BAG SHOULDER STRAP

BAG SHOULDER STRAP

Recent research with the Studio has found that the original shoulder strap was constructed using a German military G-3 rifle sling. In addition, it was secured with a two sided button stud and not a Chicago screw. At one point additional leather was added to the strap for correct shoulder length.  We reverse engineered the satchel shoulder strap  from an original pre-WW2 sling. Ours version is made from American Wickett & Craig, thick 7-8 gauge, vegetable tanned, tooling leather. Like the original, ours does not have an edge groove. Chisholm’s Trail also has an original W&G made 1941, Mark V1 gas mask bag to fit this. Our “Raider” shoulder strap is adjusted with a heavy duty “relaxed fit” slider buckle which does not mark up the strap’s leather surface. Bag attaches using a button stud for quick securing but a screw rivet can be substituted upon request.  Set includes button stud, slider buckle, leather keeper, and antiqued strap ~ $39.95 (Bag not included) Order length depending on your height. Our hardware is not pot metal, but very strong and cast from white bronze which allows for “authentic look” antiquing.

ArcHERO™ CLEANING ROD

S&W CLEANING ROD

S&W CLEANING ROD

An Adventure Hero has to clean his revolvers and so do you. We came across these genuine “original American made” cleaning rods made for Smith & Wesson & Webley during the World War One period. They appear to be copper plated over steel with a slot for your bore cleaning cloth. The generous push loop at the other end will allow even those with larger fingers to fit. They will work both for an S&W or any barrel length Webley. The addition of this cleaning rod in your “kit’ really adds authenticity. These are desired collector’s items and very rare. Only a limited number of  originals still exist. When they are gone there will be no more. Get your original ArcHERO™ period cleaning rod today for $14.95 while they are still around. When we opened the carton they were still packed in “hay or straw” – how cool is that.

ArcHERO™ AMMO POUCH

AMMO POUCH

AMMO POUCH

A “real life” Adventure Hero would carry his ammo in a companion pouch to the Webley holster. It would be worn on the front right of the belt in front of the holster for quick access. There is actually enough room inside for some ammo and a military compass, or a small cell  phone. Ours are hand made, one at a time ~ $124.95
